Gloucester Eastgate on 15/7/72 - three years before closure with a class 118 unit (set B477, presumably 51321 + 59473 + 51306) on a Swindon to Cheltenham service. Rationalisation was already taking place with only the island platform in use. A long miserable footbridge often frequented by pigeons doing what they know best linked Eastgate with Central station. Stephen Burdett.
19th October 1974 - I braved the torrential rain to take this shot of the Midland Railway's Gloucester Eastgate station looking south with a dmu in the platform. The other end of the covered footbridge joining the two Gloucester stations is in the right background. The goods lines to left have already been lifted. I was waiting for a Southwest to Northeast Class 47-hauled train to take me back to Birmingham. The whole site today is a supermarket. What a surprise! Pete LG99.

Class 101 DMU set B801 is seen at Gloucester Eastgate on 29 November 1975. The service is thought to be the 09:40 from Bristol Temple Meads. The vehicles are presumably 51446 + 59547 + 51517. Robert Thomas.
This is thought to be the 10:32 Cheltenham Spa - Bristol Temple Meads, seen at Gloucester Eastgate on 29 November 1975. It is formed of a Swindon Cross-Country Class 120 DMU with DMSL W50694 closest. Robert Thomas.
